Trillium Lodge on Great Barrier Island is a 25 minute airflight or 4 hour boat trip from Auckland and offers Bed and Breakfast Luxury accommodation in a unique log built residence, with a very private and tranquil setting and outstanding views over the bay to Coromandel or stunning mountain and bush views. Owned and operated by descendants of the local pioneering Medland family it is a great place to relax after a day out and about enjoying what the island has to offer.
One of the highlights of the island has to be the large amount of natural bush and DOC walking tracks, also on the East Coast discover the stunning almost deserted white sand surf beaches which offer both surfing and swimming. The west coast has a rocky coastline with sheltered beaches and coves edged with graceful old pohutukawa trees.
Travel the island in your rental car and stop off to enjoy a coffee or meal at one of several cafes and restaurants scattered across the island. In the evening venture out to one of the local restaurants less than 10 minutes drive away.
