When Amber House was built, in the latter part of the reign of Queen Victoria, it stood on the southern shore of Nelson's Haven with fat little Weka running up and down the strand.
Now the vibrant and exciting city of Nelson has grown up and outwards around Amber House, but our homestay remains a peaceful and helpful haven for
travellers with all of our city's attractions just a short stroll from the front gate of our Irish rose garden.
